Joseph Rosio, a senior at Cheswick Christian Academy, has been playing basketball since he could hold a ball in his hands. During the season, he eats, sleeps, and breathes the game, alongside his father, Todd Rosio, who coaches his team. With more than 1,600 career points, Joseph ranks as the third-highest scorer in school history. He also leads the program in steals and is currently seven assists away from tying the school's all-time assist record.
This series of images were all created on February 21, 2026, documenting the moments before, during, and after Joseph's final championship game. In the days leading up the matchup, anticipation was building among the players and their supporters, which led to a close game that had the crowd on the edge of their seats until well into the third quarter.
As a captain, a teammate, a son, and a friend, Joseph carries multiple roles both on and off the court. Each of these relationships shapes the community that gathered on Saturday to support him. When asked about the energy of the crowd, Rosio said, "Whether there's zero or one thousand people there, I'm going to treat the game the same way."
Joseph's focus and dedication, as well as the dedication of his teammates, allowed the team to pull ahead. By this point of the season, and after many years of playing together, this team is a well-oiled machine.
With seventeen seconds left on the clock, Coach Rosio pulled his seniors from the game. The boys embraced, with tears in their eyes, in a moment that marked the end of an era. The final score was 56-41, but no scoreboard can fully display the years of friendship, effort, and devotion that these players have carried onto the court together.
